Unik Construction Engineering, the local construction and engineering solutions company, has successfully completed and delivered Morupule B Coal Shed Project to the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC).
The engineering firm stated that executing these complex works safely within a live operating environment without disruption to ongoing power station operations, is a testament to its team’s meticulous planning and technical excellence.
“We are proud to announce the successful completion of the Morupule B Coal Shed Project for the Botswana Power Corporation, a monumental milestone that highlights Unik Construction Engineering’s capacity to execute complex, large-scale industrial infrastructure,” the company said in a Facebook post.
According to Unik Construction Engineering, the facility which stands at 36 m high with a 140 m clear-span steel space frame, 15,430 m² of roof coverage, and 12 to 20 m deep piled foundations, is engineered to protect approximately 40,000 tonnes of coal.
It provides up to two weeks of crucial dry storage, ensuring a reliable fuel supply during the rainy season and supporting uninterrupted electricity generation for the nation.

Morupule B power station is a coal-fired power plant that was commissioned in 2012/13 and it is operated by BPC, a government owned entity.
