Orapa at night
The Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower said its President, Lekwalo Mosienyane will lead a business delegation to Orapa Damtshaa and Letlhakane Mines (OLDM) from Friday, 31st October- Sunday, 2nd November 2014.
According to the organisation, the visit is a joint initiative of BOCCIM and OLDM who both believe the visit will provide an avenue to more opportunities where our local private sector can play a meaningful and effective role in the economy of Botswana through participation in the activities of the mines.
Amongst others, the purpose of the visit is to familiarise the business executives with the operations of our mines. Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines are some of the largest operations of Debswana contributing a significant share to the GDP of Botswana and employing a large number of Batswana. It will help most business executives to appreciate the magnitude of Debswana’s operation in Orapa.
BOCCIM said the three day occasion is further expected to offer the mine a platform to present its strategic initiative dubbed “Orapa Today, Boteti Tomorrow’’. This project is yet to take shape and is aimed at transforming Boteti district into an economic hub.
“We believe it will benefit BOCCIM members and also help them in identifying possible opportunities for business partnerships and linkages as they learn more about the plans to expand the mine’s operations in the area and other developments,” said Shiellah Moribame Head of Public Affairs, Marketing and Communications.
The visit will coincide with the General Manager’s Charity Dinner which is intended to mobilise support for his charitable donations to the community.
The following sectors will be represented Hospitality, Banking, Insurance, Construction, Professional services, Mining, Engineering, ICT & Telecoms, Transport and the list is not exhaustive.
A game of golf has been organised and Saturday, 1st November 2014. Golf is a networking event that will enable the delegates to share various experiences in the business environment. Delegates who don’t play golf will enjoy a game drive and other sightseeing activities.
