One-man standup comedy shows are a worldwide phenomenon, having launched many a career for stand up comics internationally. However, in Botswana, there has never been a 1 Man Standup comedy show produced, until now. The Laff-A-Lot Comedy crew is back with a bang to present this fresh and innovative concept for their next event.

According to Media Liaison Officer for Comedy for the Nation of Botswana, Gaolathe Kediemetse, “Laff-A-Lot has already recorded three Live DVDs featuring a variety of comics this year and the stable could only grow bigger”.

The headliner for the show is Goodie The Badd who hails from Serowe. Goodie is an energetic comedian who likes engaging the audience with his witty satirical views. He attacks Botswana myths while celebrating the different ways in which Botswana tribes express themselves. Goodie says he was inspired the legendary Richard Pryor. The comedian is an eloquent speaker who used to commentate sport in English on BTV. He is an all rounder artist who has also dabbled in poetry and is a self taught chef.

The event’s venue sponsor is Khwest Café and the show is slated for Sunday 25 November 2012 at 3pm. The supporting acts for the show include Laff-A-Lot new addition Augustus “Legusty” Mokgadi from Mochudi, Jerusalema from Molepolole and veteran Bafana ‘Ribcracker’ Letsatsi. This will be the first solo act by a comedian in the history of Botswana comedy and will be captured on DVD termed “Meet Goodie The Badd”.

“We have had tremendous support for our past shows from both the public and the media alike and we would like to thank them dearly. We promise a scorcher of a show with this production as we promise to surpass all the previous shows with brand new concept of fresh comedy”, says Kediemetse, who is also the event coordinator. “The main aim really is to spread awareness about standup comedy as an alternative form of entertainment that is abundant in Botswana. But the ultimate goal is help comedians turn their talent in to a livelihood”
