Samsung expands on its Built For Africa Promise

Spread the love

smartTv_samsungSamsung Electronics Africa reinforced its technology leadership through the introduction of its new Smart TV lineup that provides the ultimate Smart TV experience through advanced Smart features, larger screen sizes, superior picture quality, and unmatched design aesthetics. Regardless of consumers’ viewing preferences across Africa for LED or the innovative Ultra High Definition (UHD), Samsung’s 2013 Smart TVs allow users to enjoy a more seamless, integrated and immersive entertainment viewing experience.

Samsung also announced the expansion of its digital audio lineup to the African region, with new devices that easily turn any home entertainment setup into an optimal sound environment thanks to a number of wireless connectivity enhancements. “Samsung’s latest innovations offer simple, intuitive ways for consumers to discover and share more of the content they love on the big screen of their 2013 Smart TVs,” said Dae Hee Kim, Regional Product Manager at Samsung Africa. “This year’s lineup delivers the very best in picture quality, advanced features and modern innovative design – and together with our newest AV products – creates the ultimate home entertainment experience with dynamic, clear audio for a Smarter Africa.”

Built For Africa 3rd Generation: SurgeSafe Smart

In addition to the global premium models announced at the annual Samsung Africa Forum 2013, Samsung unveiled a new line of Visual Display products that align to the company’s objective of delivering relevant market products that meet the regional demands of the African continent such as the Samsung LED TV SurgeSafe Smart, as well as new Built For Africa functions this year including, Free Satellite, Noise Free Feature and Soccer Mode TV.

“Through leading retailers in the region, Samsung has considerably increased sales year-on-year within the African market, and we are certain that with the innovation coming out of this year’s forum unveilings that we will continue to demonstrate this type of growth on the continent in 2013 and beyond,” says Kim. “With a strong focus on LED this year these products not only bring with them key features pertaining to resolving issues of the African continent – humidity, energy efficiency and lighting – but also provide the consumer with affordable, quality offerings and content aligned to our brand.”

Samsung LED TV SurgeSafe Smart is the next generation TV following last year’s launch of ‘SurgeSafe+ TV’. These TVs boast all the benefits of LED TV with affordability as a key distinguisher, possible only through Samsung’s leading technology. It was born from the need of African consumers who require access to products that can withstand the African climate and economy. The result is a TV featuring technology that harnesses the impacts of humidity, lighting and electricity surge.

Continues Kim; “LED TV SurgeSafe Smart product range is a continuation of our SurgeSafe+ promise – providing consumers within the African market with innovative product development and market leadership that will set the benchmark for future product development on the continent. Additionally, picture quality of these TVs is a sure differentiating factor that we believe sets us apart in the TV market.”

Samsung also added a Noise Free Feature to all its SurgeSafe Smart TVs. In Africa most broadcasting is in analogue and this feature reduces the analogue Noise to ensure best picture quality.

Free Satellite TV just got better

To increase access to quality programming and to drive digitalisation across Africa, Samsung have identified the role that satellite plays in this regard and have concluded agreements with SES, a major satellite operator in a number of African regions to partner with them in delivering to the market Samsung TVs that are fitted with a built-in satellite tuner. Following on from last year, Samsung launched its 43’ Plasma Free Satellite TV – which means African consumers can enjoy free channels without a decoder and monthly payment through the Samsung free satellite TV.

Through this agreement Samsung will provide approximately 20 English channels and 30 French channels and is a key content and product solution relevant to the African requirements of TV evolution. Additionally, these TVs boast the same benefits of the SurgeSafe Smart TVs and are seeing a large uptake in an increasing number of countries. Furthermore, in line with Samsung’s drive to not only further education, but to provide Africa with local content, the company will be looking at providing a dedicated free education channel to assist with schooling curriculum.

Soccer Mode for Africa’s Sporting Passion

In addition to this, in 2013, Samsung is also launching the world’s first TV with Soccer Mode. With a touch of a button Soccer Mode can be activated to optimise the picture and sound for an immersive entertainment experience that transports consumers into the stadium during the match.

Transforming Home Entertainment – A New Flavour of Sound

Samsung’s sound solutions epitomise the undertones of true African musicality. Says Kim: “Samsung is the first company in Africa to develop an African sound born from an African citizen and targeted at the true cultural diversity of the continent and that all music can be enjoyed and shared between smart devices via a wireless connection. It is this type of innovation and forward thinking that is elevating the Samsung brand in Africa and we are sure that these products will have a large uptake – where it relates directly to the African market, which is musical and culturally adept.”

Further expanding on last year’s Afro-Pop Home Entertainment System, a sound solution that epitomises the undertones of true African musicality, developed through the EQ tuning of a sound optimised equaliser – undertaken by leading African celebrity, Don Jazzy – this year, Samsung have added additional components including a vacuum tube and gallium amp to create a pure natural sound.

For the Perfect Party Atmosphere – the MX-FS9000

Samsung have also built one of the most powerful component in the world (123 cm speakers) powered by 2560W – the MX-FS9000. The Hi-Fi component provides the perfect party atmosphere not only through its DJ Beat mode and disco lighting, but also through its Giga sound Beat, which provides enhanced Bass for the perfect house party.

Portable bluetooth speaker – for the youth on the move

For the young and rising African generation on the move, being able to connect easily to your entertainment anywhere anytime is key. Samsung’s bluetooth Speaker provides easy connection with a PC, TV or phone through one-touch Bluetooth pairing or Sound Share. In a retro metallic design, the small but power speaker boasts enhanced bass sound with passive bass radiator technology with a neodymium speaker.

“From this line up it is evident that Samsung Africa is focused not only on providing premium hardware, but also localised content and services that can be used in conjunction with such devices. A good example of this is our The Kleek music service in partnership with Universal Music. Premium devices with premium content and services certainly make for a Smart Africa,” concludes Kim.
