Miami’s renowned Ultra Music Festival comes to South Africa

festival logoMiami’s popular Ultra Music Festival, the global dance music explosion, is set to be held in South Africa, with the phase 1 line up for both performances already having been announced. Shows have been scheduled in both Cape Town and Johannesburg on the 14th and 15th of February respectively.

Headlining artists include such international heavy-hitters as Tiësto, Alesso, Nicky Romero, Krewella, and W&W, to name a few.  Adding a true dose of local flavour, a medley of some of South Africa’s very own artists will also take to the decks and the stage, including Black Coffee, Goldfish, Mi Casa and popular DJs Euphonik and Fresh.

Ultra Music Festival has earned itself a cult following across the globe and continues to attract crowds in the tens of thousands to its home base in Miami, Florida. Today, the Festival transports the unparalleled experience from the Miami flagship event to an ever-growing number of destinations and fans all over the globe. In 2007 and 2008, the Festival was exported to Ibiza and Sao Paulo respectively, while in 2012 and 2013, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Santiago and both Split and Hvar Island in Croatia hosted the popular event. 2014 will see the first Ultra Music Festival on South African soil.

South African artists continue to intrigue music lovers across the globe and we’re pleased that South Africa, which has fast established itself as a veritable lifestyle and entertainment capital of the world, will for the first time host this music spectacular. The Ultra Music Festival puts internationally acclaimed artists on the same playing field as South Africa’s very own distinct local flavour to truly highlight the talent South Africa has to offer.

The internationally renowned event has taken place every March since its inception in 1999, and this year saw the Festival celebrate its 15th anniversary by becoming the first ever major electronic festival to produce an event over two consecutive weekends. The Festival prides itself on offering the hottest names and the finest talent from the globe and has earned a reputation as the most international festival brand in the world by far. In addition to a presence in over a dozen cities, the sensation also boats ‘Ultra Live’ and Ultra Worldwide platforms, which bring the festival experience online to over 11 million unique viewers globally.

Set against the dazzling backdrops of Johannesburg and Cape Town, no matter which city you choose, visitors are in for quite a treat when it comes to truly unique and elusive urban vibes. Be it paragliding over Camps Bay and enjoying an afternoon at Mzoli’s in Cape Town, or taking in the sights of the Newton Precinct and the shopping in Rosebank, there’s no shortage of activities on either side of the Festival events.
