The Francistown Bowling Club hosted their annual sports weekend on the 13th-15th March 2015. The event which was sponsored by Botswana Insurance  Company (BIC) this year received the largest turnout for tennis compared to the previous years. A total of 130 participants turned up for the event  to participate in different sport codes which included tennis, badminton, snooker,pool, bowls and darts.

The games were played in elimination rounds leading up to the finals and those who did not make it to the finals could only watch from the sidelines. Despite the tough competition the games were played in great spirit as the young and old had fun, contending against each other. The weekend was also a great time to relax, network and cement relationships as the games bring together members of the community through the club. It was also an opportunity for BIC to interact with clients and get feedback on areas of improvement.

 Speaking at the awards ceremony BIC Claims Manager, John Heldsinger thanked all for their participation and the spirit of unity among them. He highlighted that he was pleased to see young players who came in large numbers and he urged the club manager to nurture talent from a young age. He went on to thank the Chairman, his Committee, ground staff and waitresses for their remarkable hospitality. Special thanks were passed to Uys Fritz and all his staff for their involvement at the Club.

Supporting and encouraging sports is important for BIC, and is embedded in its corporate social responsibility strategy, as sport is not only an important element in health and wellness, it contribute to a more sound structure, deterring the youth from ill habits.  A number of BIC’s stakeholders participated in the tournament exposing talent, and potential opportunity.

 BIC believes in a productive, but fun culture, so for BIC sponsoring this event was a winning combination!
