The Minister of Transport and Communications, Kitso Mokaila will officially open the 2016 Aviation Pitso on the 21st October, 2016 at 0900hours. The Pitso will be held at Maun Lodge, Maun.
Held under the theme “Celebrating Aviation: The Next Economic Frontier” the Pitso will provide a platform to highlight and celebrate all the milestones that have contributed to the growth of the industry and by extension economic growth of this country for the past 50 years.
The theme shall also interrogate through roundtable discussions and plenary sessions strategies that can be employed to capitalise on the milestones attained over the past 50 years to further grow the sector.
Thus, topics such as, “Maximising economic return on investment in airports and Stimulating passenger demand in Aviation” will provide a where delegates can deliberate on strategies that can vigorously usher in Aviation: the next economic frontier. The Pitso will be attended by Aviation practitioners, academics, business community and members of the public.
According to Statistics Botswana Transport & Infrastructure Stats Brief for Q2 2016, Maun remains the busiest in terms of aircraft movements by airport. The majority of the aircraft movements (58.8%) were recorded in Maun and 30.0% of those were recorded during the month of April, while May recorded 35.8% and June recorded 34.2% of aircraft movements made in Maun.
