Major Moves Comedy Nights are back every first Friday of the month bringing non-stop laughter with most funny local and international stand-up comedians. The audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from a variety of comics while also enjoying a meal and beverage of their choice. The shows promise fireworks with the inaugural one slated for Friday the 1 st of February at Masa Square Hotel in the CBD which is easily accessible to patrons who will experience top notch entertainment.
The show will be hosted by Onkgopotse “Mdala Ka Tjeludo” Mugende and will feature Emmanuel Musaka from Zambia, Madeza from South Africa, Owen “Mr O” Rampha, Lebo English and upcoming comedians. Emmanuel is one of Zambia’s funniest, most in demand, fastest growing and continentally acclaimed comedian. He has that inert ability to augment rib-tickling comedy and to invoke an engaging badinage in every setting be it corporate, social or even in a religious set up with a raillery that’s smart and immaculately carved. He has featured on national television (ZNBC) on several occasions, and has been interviewed and profiled on Zambia’s newspapers and radio station.
Events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy Gaolathe Kediemetse said, “We introduced monthly shows last year and we are exploring ways of getting Botswana talent including upcoming comedians to shine locally and internationally. The comedians we have invited for the first event have actually hosted our comedians before as Emmanuel hosted KLo in Lusaka and Madeza hosted Phenyo The Master in Mafikeng. With these events we also build relations and exchange talent with other countries in our quest to create a sustainable market and continual artist development.”
Mdala Ka Tjeludo is well known for his political satire every Monday night on Duma FM. Yarona FM’s Mr O who is popularly known as a Dj is not a new comer to the comedy stage as he previously performed at HICOFEST and All-Star Comedy Tour. Lebo English is an upcoming female comedian who is steadily carving a name for herself in the comedy industry. “We are excited to be hosting a fresh international comedian from Lusaka, Zambia. However, we are equally excited that some of our comedians will also be performing that side sometime this year, and in countries such as Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Our main aim is to see standup comedy growing in Botswana as part of mainstream entertainment,” Kediemetse added.
The venue sponsor is Masa Square Hotel which is in the heart of the city in the CBD. There will a comedy event at the hotel every First Friday of the month with a tantalizing and mouthwatering lineup. Tickets for the event are available at Webtickets & Spar outlets priced from P150 single and P200 double. The show starts at 730pm.
