Major Moves Comedy is back with yet another rib cracking lineup for their monthly events this October. The First Friday Comedy event which has been religiously happening every first Friday of the month will be back for the eighth showdown this year. The audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from a variety of comics who will take to the stage at Masa Square Hotel on Friday the 4 th of October.

The comedy show that has resident host Onkgopotse ‘Mdala Ka Tjeludo’ Mugende will feature a fresh lineup of Bonginkosi ‘Dr Shakes’ Dlamini from Swaziland, Maatla Ephraim Basha from Tlokweng, Ndiye ‘Triccs’ Tampa from Francistown, Queen of comedy Malebogo ‘Lebo English’ Lekgowa from Medie and Lentle ‘Induna’ Makhwaje. The event will also bring upcoming comedians to the forefront as new comedians will be introduced and given a chance to share stage with these established acts.

Events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy Gaolathe Kediemetse said, “Since we introduced monthly shows we have had promising support and are now exploring ways of getting Botswana talent to shine internationally. Thapelo Malani has recently performed in Zambia, Triccs will be showcasing in Swaziland this October, Brooks will be performing in Lesotho in November, and Lebo English will be featured in South Africa this December. With these monthly events we also build relations and exchange talent with other countries in our quest to create a sustainable market and continual artist development.”

Swaziland’s Dr Shakes is excited to be performing in Botswana after performing in big events such as Kings of Funny and the Swaziland International Comedy Festival and he featured Botswana’s KLo at his monthly Bundle of Jokes early this year. He brings high energy, fun and clever comedy. Lebo English is a firebrand in the local comedy circles and always delivers spectacular performances. Triccs started doing standup comedy in 2015 and his style of comedy is vernacular with a bit of intellectual comedy. He really engages the audience during his performances with very personal yet relatable topics and recently performed at the GIMC comedy night.

“We are excited to be hosting the monthly event for the 8th consecutive time this year. Although we struggle with sponsorship for our events, we are grateful for Masa Square Hotel in helping us develop this art form. We want to develop and contribute positively to lives of the comedians so that they can be able to make a living off comedy like elsewhere in the world”, added Kediemetse. The venue sponsor is Masa Square Hotel and tickets are available at Webtickets & Spar outlets priced from P150 single and P200 double. The shows start at 8pm.
