wedding expo 1South Africa’s largest wedding expo is set to take place at the Coca Cola Dome from the 24-25 August 2013. The bi-annual event, which draws crowds of up to 15,000, is considered to be the most highly anticipated bridal exhibition in South Africa. The stakes will be high with distinct locally designed couture gowns vying to stand a shoulder above designs from countries such as Spain, Italy, UK and America, and an impressive bouquet of offerings for the entire bride and groom party.

Bride &Co, Oleg Cassini, Pronovias and Olivelli with Maggie Soterro are the international brands that will be showcased at the event. 300 bridal specialists, acake café and four fashion shows will ensure that the Expo is the ideal wedding planning have for the soon to be wedding couple.

“No two weddings are the same. Everyone wants something uniquely beautiful for their special day, and fits into their budget. The possibilities are endless in South Africa as it is a great wedding and honeymoon destination. With over 20 shows under its belt the Wedding Expo has grown both in size and production and is surely a must for all brides,” said Debbie Damant, Country Manager for SADC and Domestic at South African Tourism.

Recently launched at the Expo is, a Young Designer Bridal Award which is a competition where design students get the opportunity to get creative. Finalists of the competition will showcase their designs during the August Expo along with seasoned designers to ensure attendees get the full spectrum of design talent.

“There are a myriad of possibilitites to consider and explore, from destination weddings in the Cape Winelands, to the foothills of Mpumalanga. Affordable honeymoon spots are yet another element that South Africa has to offer which will be available at the Expo, be it a beach wedding in Kwa Zulu Natal or the elegantly rustic bush lodges across the North West,” continued Damant.

The Wedding Expo has established itself as a must-attend event in the wedding circles. Having distinguished guests each year to lend their craft to the show has proved to be one of the crowd pullers. Beautiful gowns, a variety of table settings, silverware and wedding planners galore, this year’s Expo is certainly upping the stakes, having grown from 3,200 attendants in its first year in 2002 to 15,000 at the last show.

Tickets for the Wedding Expo are available on-line at Computicket and at the door for R100 per person. The show will run from 0900-1700 on 24-25 August 2013.
