BotswanaPost Foundation officially handed over a project in Parakarungu village recently under its Corporate Social Responsibly Programme. The project which was led by staff in the Northern Region entails the installation of a standpipe and fencing of a yard for an elderly citizen.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Chobe, Gibson Nshimwe said BotswanaPost truly epitomised their tagline ‘We deliver, whatever wherever’. “Even though they are in the mail business, we are gathered here to celebrate the fencing and standpipe that BotswanaPost has brought to    Parakarungu and the Masene family. We in Parakarungu graciously thank you for remembering us here and for the magnitude of the work that you have done,” he said.

While handing over the project to the beneficiary, Rodwell Masene Sebihelo, BotswanaPost Chief Executive Officer, Pele Moleta highlighted that as BotswanaPost, they believe that serving the people was more important than just focusing on the bottom line.

“I promise that this is not the last of BotswanaPost in what we are doing in this region. For as long as our staff wants to keep helping the communities that they serve, we as BotswanaPost will keep supporting them,” said Moleta.

He applauded the staff in the Northern Region for seeing the need to make the lives of disadvantaged and/or elderly citizens better by providing them with easy access to water and urged them to go beyond the initial step that they have taken.

“In addition, I guarantee you that as BotswanaPost, we are working hard to improve the lives of the people hence our many partnerships which ensure that people can get amenities even in the most rural places such as our partnerships with Hollard for the Motshidisi Policy and the introduction of PosoCard”.

Accepting his gift, Masene thanked the staff of BotswanaPost for their generosity. “Never in  my life did I think that I would receive such kindness from  strangers who would care enough to make my life in my old age much easier by installing a standpipe for me in my yard and the proceed to fulfill a lifelong dream by fencing my homestead,” he said.

Last week, the staff in the Gaborone Region handed over a refurbished kitchen and classroom which were converted to a library and books to Taung Primary School in Gaborone.
