Lovers of stand-up comedy will on Friday, August 8th witness a historic comedy show. Get ready for some healthy action night as the multi-award winners in the comedy industry Sifiso Nene and Mawee take their comedic talents to Cresta President Hotel for a night of healing, in non-stop laughter.

Don’t miss South Africans’ audience favorite comedian Sifiso live in an all new critically acclaimed and very hilarious comedy package, full of humor. Joining him on stage are rib crackers; award winning Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware from Gabane, Gabz FM’s Paps, Scientist from Mochudi, Peter the white man from Zimbabwe, Phenyo the Master from Mochudi and Maun based Ouza.

Top South African comedian Sifiso Nene will be performing in Botswana for the second time.  Sifiso Nene is a South African comedian, poet and actor best known for winning the first season of the SABC1 reality competition talent search So You Think You’re Funny!, in 2009. His win on the show led to greater exposure for Sifiso as he landed a slot on Opening Guys, a reality show on Mzansi Magic hosted by Kagiso Lediga, in 2010. In 2012, he joined the SABC1 youth talk show Mzansi Insider as a contributor and also starred in the David Kau film Taxi Ride as Bhakabhaka, a rude, funny and stubborn taxi driver who always carries a sjambok. He also won a SATMA Award and starred in a Standard Bank TV advert. In 2012 and 2013 he won the Audience Choice Award at the Annual South African Comics Choice Awards, which is voted for by the public.

Not only is Sifiso an established comedian, an articulate poet and talented actor, he is also an author. He has published his first book entitled, ‘Our Father’, where he bears his soul to the world. It is said that those who wear the broadest smiles often carry the deepest pains, and his novel is testimony to that.‘Our Father’ shares Sifiso’s intimate journey of being raised in a home confined between walls of abuse, his volatile relationship with his father, finding spiritual refuge in prayer, his fervent desire for success and the undying love for his mother.

He will also be bringing his book to come and share it with Batswana.‘This book started off as a journal in 2008 to get me through each day and one day, I just realised that there are so many people who would benefit from hearing my story because everyone has gone through terribly challenging circumstances at some point. If anything, this book has been a process of catharsis for me. It shares experiences close to my heart which I wasn’t at the time ready to share,’ said Sifiso.

One of Botswana’s funniest from Gabane; Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware has made a mark in the Botswana comedy industry since his first time at the then Khwest Cafe Sunday Comedy shows. Mawee is definitely one of the most fearlessly funny comics working today, raging on the absurd, ridiculous and unbelievable. He is one of the rising young comedians in the country and in May he came second in a national talent competition where he managed to pocket P50 000. He has just won the 2014 President Day Comedy Competition beating 7 other comics and pocketing P10 000. He has recently opened for Mashabela Galane who was impressed with his performance and booked him to perform at his next show in Johannesburg early August.

Always known for bringing up and coming comedians to the forefront of Botswana comedy, each show we see new comedians introduced and given chance to share the stage with top acts. This time around making their comedy debut at Cresta President Hotel is Scientist from Mochudi. Scientist brings clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the show.

One of Botswana funniest from Maun, Ouza Moratiwa has also made a mark in the Botswana comedy industry. He has opened for so many top comedians like Shampoo and Mashabela and continued to give the audience some of his best material. He toured with some of the industry’s top comedians and was the 2nd runner up at 2013 and 2014 President Day Comedy Competitions.

The organisers have promised that the show would live up to its reputation. Gaolathe Kediemetse of Major Moves Comedy said: “The last time Sifiso Nene was in Botswana, he had a standing ovation and thus he is back by popular demand. Many people have argued that, with Mawee, one cannot maintain a straight face, which symbolizes his outstanding excellence when it comes to comedy. With this Winner’s Circle show we expect these multi-award winners to keep people laughing throughout.”

Tickets for the Winner’s Circle show are available online at Webtickets and at Spar outlets priced from P150 single and P200 double. The show starts at 7:27pm.
