In line with its vision of positioning Botswana as a leading destination of innovation in Africa, Botswana Innovation Hub in collaboration with the Southern African Innovation Support (SAiS) Programme is launching The National Innovation Award (NIA) on the evening of Thursday 14 August at Lansmore Masa Square.
Said Director of Cluster Development, Dr. Budzanani Tacheba, “This award is meant to strengthen and articulate innovations in the clean and bio technology areas. Underscoring the development of the Award is the primary objective of commercialisation and employment creation.”
The Southern African Innovation Support (SAiS) Programme is a major Botswana Innovation Hub support programme that promotes collaboration within the innovation systems of African countries in order to provide greater impact on economic and social development. The judging of the National Innovation Award was based on working models, prototypes and artefacts submitted under the overarching themes of biotechnology and clean technology.
He concluded, “We at Botswana Innovation Hub firmly believe that the launch of this Award will not only serve to uncover viable innovations in biotechnology and clean technology, but will also act as a national catalyst to continue to unearth technological innovations in other sectors. We look forward to announcing the deserving winner and recognising the game changers in Botswana’s technology arena”.
