The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) will donate a number of items to the elderly community in the northern part of the country. The investment promotion agency said they always endevour to embark on charitable projects that uplift the lives of Batswana through their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme.
“BITC supports and aims to improve the lives of our elderly communities who have been instrumental in building our nation,” said the organisation headed by Letsebe Sejoe. “BITC identified a need in North East District through a fact finding mission to support the elderly….”.
Following the mission, BITC has committed to donate beds, wardrobes, radios, blankets and sheets. The elderly community in Makaleng, Botalaote, Toteng and Matenge are the third beneficiaries of the BITC’s CSI programme since its inception in 2012.
According to BITC, the project comes subsequent to the successful implementation of two projects; the construction of a Guidance and Counselling Centre at Ikageng Secondary School in Metsimotlhabe and the donation of a playground, and refurbishment of the children’s ward at Rakops Primary Hospital.
“BITC continues to take this noble CSI idea further to assist Batswana and make a footprint in the wider breath of the country where there is dire need,” it said.
“As a non-profit making organisation, BITC aims to assist all the members of our community and contribute towards Vision 2016’s a Just and Caring nation,” added Sejoe, BITC CEO.
The handover ceremony of the donations will take place on March 18 at Makaleng main kgotla.
