BCL Mine and Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) recently renewed their long term business relationship by signing another three year Coal Supply Agreement. Through this Agreement, MCM will supply BCL with coal.

BCL uses coal in processing of metal at the smelter whereas MCM mines coal. The quantity of coal to be delivered in each Contract year is up to 80 000 tonnes.  Coal delivered to BCL will be according to agreed specifications and agreed terms and conditions on monthly weighted average basis and MCM will be responsible for transporting this coal to BCL using part of a fleet of rail wagons dedicated to MCM by Botswana Railways.

During the signing ceremony at BCL Mine, David S Kgoboko, thanked BCL for honouring the Off-take plans and applauded this strategic relationship that has grown over the years. He was accompanied by two members of his management team.

For his part, BCL General Manager, Dan Mahupela thanked MCM for its commitment to supply BCL with coal, which is a major ingredient in the smelting process, especially in drying the concentrate and in the flash smelting furnace.

Mahupela also commended MCM for meeting their obligations in the past, as non-supply of coal by MCM will present challenges in the BCL operations. He too was accompanied by part of his management team.
