Botswana Insurance Company (BIC) says it has made an interim payment of P160, 000 to Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust following the fire that destroyed the sanctuary’s iconic restaurant building some time back.
According to the insurance company, the interim payment is to enable the restaurant to get back into business as soon as possible. Already, a temporary facility is being erected to allow local and foreign visitors to the renowned nature reserve to enjoy the same facilities as before.
“This payment is only the first part of a much larger payment to be made to the sanctuary for the rebuilding of the main restaurant. It is expected that the rebuilding of the damaged building will commence soon,” said BIC in a press release.
Chief Warden of Khama Rhino Sanctuary Moremi Tjibae has praised BIC for rushing to the site after the fire to assess the damage and help mitigate the effects of the unexpected loss to the trust.
