Legal Guard Boxes of Love at BAPR
The month of December saw the BIHL Trust once again champion the Boxes of Love campaign. Staff of BIHL Group and Legal Guard banded together to bring smiles to the faces of children across Botswana.
Over 250 “Boxes of Love” were shared with 250 children at Childline Botswana, Botswana Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (BAPR) on 5th December 2014. The Boxes of Love campaign saw each staff member paired with a child from the various charitable organisations. Each business handpicked the children’s organisation they wanted to work with, engaging these organisations to get a sense of the personalities and interests of the kids. A customised “Box of Love” was then curated, including toys and trinkets deemed perfect for the particular child, both gender and age appropriate.
“We launched the Boxes of Love campaign with BIHL Group staff in 2013, and it proved to be an immense success. A dedication towards initiatives for supporting and uplifting young children has always been an area of focus for BIHL Trust, and this year we extended and grew this effort across the Group.
It’s easy to forget that not all of the children in our communities are able to experience the happy, gift-giving festive cheer we may be used to, and we want to give them one day of that kind of love and celebration. This is what Boxes of Love is really about: spreading joy and love,” commented Tebogo Keepetsoe, Public Relations and Communications Manager at BIHL Group and Administrator of the BIHL Trust.
The 69 members of staff across each of the businesses gifted 69 boxes, inclusive of gifts, of their own accord, with BIHL Trust sponsoring the remaining boxes and gifts. Staff from BIHL set aside time from regular working hours to spend time with the children and share the gifts as they spread a little more Christmas cheer, ending the festivities with celebratory lunches for all at each of the respective organisations.
“This was truly humbling, giving my time and the little I could to bring joy to a child,” said Onthusitse Mosiakgabo, BIHL Group Head of Human Resources. “It is so incredibly rewarding to be able to make even the tiniest difference in a child’s life, and to see the joy on their faces when we arrived is the ultimate testament of why initiatives such as these are so crucial. We’re incredibly proud of those across the Group who gave real meaning to the Strength in Numbers mindset, wholly putting their hearts into this project Indeed, we are incredibly grateful to all of the kids we have been engaging with for reminding us what true innocence and love really are.”
