Standard Chartered Bank Botswana has been named as one of the World’s Best Emerging Banks 2013 in Africa in an exclusive survey to be published in the May 2013 issue of Global Finance magazine.

Global Finance editors, along with industry analysts, corporate executives and banking consultants selected the best emerging markets bank in the region and in 29 countries. Standard Chartered Bank was critiqued on growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing, and innovative products. The awards ceremony will be held in October of this year in Washington DC.

This is the twentieth year that the magazine has chosen banking performers in emerging markets. It also covers the best banks in Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa – making this achievement even more significant for the Bank.

Joseph Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance magazine was quoted as saying “Each region and individual country presents unique challenges for bank and their customers, especially under the difficult conditions global financial markets continue to face.”

“At Standard Charted Bank Botswana we are proud that the work we have done with Batswana over the past 115 years does not go unnoticed and we share this triumph with our customers” said Tumie Ramsden, Head of Corporate Affairs, Standard Chartered Bank Botswana, following the announcement of their inclusion in the prestigious list.

“The criteria by which winners were chosen tie in with our top priorities. For example, in Consumer Banking, which is the bank’s main business, there is an increased focus on digitisation and we continue to grow and diversify our asset book” added Ms Ramsden. Standard Chartered Bank was also named as the winner in Gambia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
