tumieGABORONE- Friday 5th April 2013 saw the announcement of the launch of the Standard Chartered Bank Botswana (SCBB) The Entrepreneurial Edge: Business Simulation game in Gaborone. The Business simulation is to be extensively tested by the Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) students as a 4 week long competition as of Friday 10th April which represents the first of its kind ever in Botswana.

This initiative was instigated with the aim to give participating students the opportunity to gain unique and essential business experience through sophisticated real-time business simulations.

For the first time SCBB has collaborated with a tertiary institution, on an on-line business competition as the basis of their CSI initiative for 2013. The game saw six teams of 6-8 students from BAC who will participate in the competition based on the “Marketplace-Live Business Simulation Game”.

The PC-based simulation will give the students experience in developing and implementing strategies. The students will run their companies in a competitive (Information Technology), IT market setting against other teams. This forces them to take risks and anticipate competitor strategies.

Said, Mr. Mike Shirley Head of Origination and Client Coverage of SCBB in his keynote address. “It goes without saying that the youth of today, are the leaders of tomorrow, and by investing in the youth we are investing and securing a better tomorrow for our country.

As we gather here today, to launch the Entrepreneurial Edge simulation game, we are bearing witness to the efforts required to ensure growth and capacity of our young people. It is a great honour and pride for Standard chartered, to be associated with this first of its kind simulation game in Botswana.

Concluded, Mr. Lesolle, Executive Director of BAC. “The provision of this web-based business simulation game for usage in our business school, in collaboration with SCBB, has proven the opportunity to bring about executive education and individual learning for our students.

We believe this is a powerful developmental experience for next-generation executives and we are thrilled about this joint venture.
