glenThe Gaborone’s inaugural Glenfiddich Whisky Night was held recently (Friday 30th August 2013) at Lansmore Masa Square. The event attracted both avid whisky drinkers as well as those simply looking to try something a little different, tasting the finest range of single malt scotch whisky there is and dining the night away.

Sales and Marketing Manager at Lansmore Masa Square, Botho Mogami, says Lansmore is positioned to raise the bar of the service for Batswana. “As the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch whisky we believe it is in a class that resembles the positioning and value we try to give our guests and patrons. As our fist whisky tasting at Lansmore, we are absolutely thrilled to offer the public something of this calibre, and our patrons can definitely look forward to having more of this kind.”

Glenfiddich Single Malt whisky has become known for its wide variety of styles and types of whisky. The Lansmore Whisky Night saw Global Holdings, a sponsor of the event, provide 19, 21 and 30 years for the whisky tasters to whet their palate. Guests were offered the chance to sample and compare some of these different whiskies and discover what makes them different. In addition, patrons were given the chance to explore not only the attributes, but to also appreciate the nose and taste of various whiskies, and learn about distillation, maturation, and blending.

The whisky tasting was paired with a delectable menu from La Touche de Provence. The three course meal comprised of a passion fruit and Glenfiddich dressing as a starter, the seared Norwegian salmon, crispy black forest ham and cumquat and ginger preserve. This was followed by the main course consisting of the appetising beef fillet marinated in green pepper corn and Glenfiddich on fennel & caramel mousse accompanied by Dukha crumble and cigar Sauce. To sweeten up the taste buds the meal was completed with a mouth-watering smoked chocolate pudding, honey comb, drunken black cherries and white chocolate rose ganache.

“As a supplier of Glenfiddich, we at Global Holdings understand that Glenfiddich has an increasingly large following in Botswana. Thus, we created a platform for our connoisseurs to enjoy it with their fellow whisky drinkers in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. The Glenfiddich drinker, or even potential drinker, is much the same as the Lansmore patron, and so such a collaboration is the perfect match”, concluded Glenfiddich brand ambassador, Thami Banda.
