Thursday 22 May 2014 saw First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) staff volunteers unveiling results of a project which they undertook to renovate the Letsholathebe Hospital paediatric ward. This project was another initiative by the Bank’s CSR vehicle, the FNBB Foundation towards building the community. Along with having revamped the children’s ward at the Letsholathebe Hospital, staff engaged with children, entertaining them with various activities throughout the day.

FNBB Marketing and Communications Director, Ms. Bomolemo Selaledi said, “As FNBB, we extend our gratitude for the continued support we get from our valued clients. In the same breathe we realize the importance of reciprocating by giving back to the communities in which we operate. Visiting a hospital or being hospitalised can be an unnerving experience, especially for children and we hope our staff’s efforts will make it more bearable for them. The ward is not only in better condition, but is also now brighter, and has a more child friendly look and feel”.

Staff volunteers spent the day refurbishing the walls in the paediatric ward with colourful fresh paintings and adding new toys for the kids to play with. The FNBB Foundation has advised that the donation to Letsholathebe Hospital came up to P50, 000.00. The day proved to be therapeutic for staff and the young patients who both seemed delighted with the day’s results.

“FNBB supports the notion of improved health care for all Batswana, and more importantly, the children. This project was aimed at assisting Letsholathebe Hospital take a step in this direction. Through the FNBB Foundation, we will continue to support communities across Botswana with realising the goal of improving health care services in the country.” Concluded Ms. Selaledi

The much-needed upgrade will not only improve patients and families’ experience but vastly improve the working environment for the ward staff. The rehabilitation of the paediatric ward was done in efforts to contribute to the welfare of the children. The Foundation continues to lend a helping hand to assist non-profit organisations county-wide to deliver improved quality service.
