Nomads and Stanbic Bank host successful 14th National Tournament

Saturday 18th October 2014 saw Joseph Muchena from Zimbabwe proclaimed the winner of the Nomads National Tournament, a national golfing championship this year sponsored by Stanbic Bank Botswana. Joseph emerged victorious from a total of 209 fellow golfers from across the continent, following 2 days of battling it out on the green.

The Nomads National Tournament kicked off on Wednesday 15th October 2014 and is now in its 14th year.  Stanbic Bank Botswana this year sponsored the event for the first time, building upon a strong foundation of working with the Nomads Club. The Bank sponsored the Tournament to the tune of P150, 000 in an effort to bolster local golfing as well as encourage greater networking amongst the local and regional business community.

Said Mr. Louis van Ravesteyn, Head, Business Banking, Stanbic Bank Botswana, “It’s been a fantastic few days of golf, networking and getting to know friends and family of Stanbic Bank, including both current and potential customers. We thank Nomads for allowing us to grow our relationship even more by coming on board as a key sponsor for the event, and look forward to leveraging off the great relationships forged during the Tournament.”

Some of the region’s most passionate golfers graced the event, battling it out for the title.

The Tournament attracted a total of 70 golfers from South Africa, 15 from Swaziland, 35 from Zimbabwe, 1 from Mauritius and the remainder from Botswana.

Nomads is a members only charity organisation consisting of 140 golf playing. The club hosts monthly games and tournaments from which proceeds raised are given to charity organisations. Membership of the Club is made up of top executives, professionals and successful business owners.
