Majwe Mining Joint Venture (Pty) Ltd, a company contracted by the Debswana Diamond Mining Company (Pty) Ltd at Jwaneng Mine for the Cut 9 project says it has noted, with great concern, the use of its name in a scam aimed at swindling people through the promise of amongst others: unfounded job placements; the sub-contracting of housing; catering supply and service contracts; and general procurement at the company.

Mr. Archibald Ngakayagae

“It has been brought to the company’s attention that individuals have been targeting the public by ways of floating advertisements or calling unsuspecting people claiming to be working for Majwe Mining or contracted by the Company to perform such criminal activities,” said Majwe’s Comms & Community Relations Manager, Archibald Ngakayagae.

The company said as an accountable and transparent employer, wishes to warn the public about this scam. “It is important to note that any employment vacancies or the listing of supply or service contracts are advertised in mainstream newspapers. At no point will a representative of Majwe Mining or a representative acting on behalf of Majwe Mining request any monetary payment as part of this process.”

“We would like to urge the nation to take note of these scams and not to engage with anyone claiming to be an employee of the Majwe Mining Joint Venture or claiming to be doing business on behalf of Majwe at a cost.”
