Ms. Linah Mohohlo

The Governor of the Bank of Botswana, Linah Mohohlo, is the Central Bank Governor of the Year (2014).  The Award was bestowed by the African Banker Awards Magazine on May 21, 2014 in Kigali, (Rwanda) at the time of the annual meetings of the African Development Bank.

At the Awards ceremony held at the Kigali Serena Hotel, the African Banker Awards Committee representative said that:“In according you this accolade, the Committee has highlighted your extraordinary and continued leadership in successfully steering your economy throughout the international financial crisis, stabilising the economy and currency, as well as maintaining Botswana’s reputation for its high degree of transparency and public awareness in economic matters.

Now in the 8th edition, the African Banker Awards are organised by African Banker magazine, ICT Events and Business in Africa Events (BIAE).  The African Development Bank Group is the High Patron of the event.  The Awards are designed to promote entrepreneurial excellence and world-class practices in banking finance.  They are designed to honour the achievements of Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors, financial institutions and other related entities who have contributed significantly to the reform, modernisation and expansion of the continent’s banking and financial system(s).
