One-man standup comedy shows are a worldwide phenomenon, having launched many a career for standup comics internationally. Don’t miss the 2014 President’s Day Champion and 2nd runner-up in a national competition Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware from Gabane in an all new critically acclaimed and very hilarious comedy package, full of humor. Joining him on stage are rib crackers; Rekunde from Maun, Gabz FM’s Paps, Phenyo the Master, Tshabong based Brooks and two hilarious and fresh comedians from South Africa Jazz Buddha and Crazy Kay who will be performing in Botswana for the 1st time.

One of Botswana’s funniest from Gabane; Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware has made a mark in the Botswana comedy industry since his first time at the then Khwest Cafe Sunday Comedy shows. Mawee is definitely one of the most fearlessly funny comics working today, raging on the absurd, ridiculous and unbelievable. He is one of the rising young comedians in the country and in May he came second in a national talent competition where he managed to pocket P50 000.

Mawee has also won the 2014 President Day Comedy Competition beating 7 other comics and pocketing P10 000 in the process. He has recently performed in Johannesburg where he shared the stage with among others American Griff, Trevor Gumbi, Crazy Kay and the host Mashabela Galane. He has since been invited to perform in Rustenburg and Pretoria after he posted a video clip on youtube and this also influenced the idea of a fully-fledged professional DVD. Mawee will be following on the footsteps of established comedians like Goodie The Badd and MOD who have previously shot their 1 Man Comedy DVDs.

Always known for bringing up and coming comedians to the forefront of Botswana comedy, each show we see new comedians introduced and given chance to share the stage with top acts. This time around making their comedy debut at Cresta President Hotel is Stevie ‘MaThousand’ from Kasane. Stevie brings clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the show.

Themba Nhlapo a.k.a Jazzbuda is a well-known comedian in the South African comedy circuit who fuses his comedy with music and poetry. His comedy focuses on everyday living for example; church, celebrities, politicians, family, and relationships. From his days as a young man, Themba had been a victim of mockery by his peers because of his diminutive stature and his big ears. However, that did not discourage him; instead this made him to take whatever “fun made” and use it to his advantage. Jazzbuda holds a degree in B.Proc and LLB from the University of Limpopo and also practices as an Advocate of the High Court (Pretoria). He has performed to mention a few at the Lord Make Me Laugh Gospel Comedy Festival (Midrand), Soweto Comedy Festival (Soweto Theatre/Maponya Mall),  One Laugh (Wits University), Tshwane Comedy Show (State Theatre), The Jazz Gallery (Manzini, Swaziland), Metro Knights (Sandton), Change Room (Soweto), Cool runnings (JHB), Bat Centre (Durban) with the best South African comics.

One of SA’s funniest from Soweto, Kagiso Sedumedi a.k.a Crazy Kay has also made a mark in the South African comedy industry. He was a top 10 finalist in the SABC 1 ‘So you think you are funny’ which was hosted by David Kau. He has performed with top comedians like Shampoo, Tall Ass Mo, Trevor Noah, Kagiso Lediga, Mark Banks, etc. and continued to give the audience some of his best material. He brings a fresh new take on comedy and will surely mesmerize the local audience with his unique form of comedy.

The organisers have promised that the show would live up to its reputation. Gaolathe Kediemetse of Major Moves Comedy said: “The last time we had comedy show was early August, and people have been inquiring about the next show and more fresh faces. Many people have also argued that, with Mawee, one cannot maintain a straight face, which symbolizes his outstanding excellence when it comes to comedy. With this DVD recording show we expect the multi-award winner and his guests to keep people laughing throughout.”

Tickets for the Winner’s Circle show are available online at Webtickets, Spar outlets and Cresta President priced from P150 single and P200 double. The show starts at 7:27pm.
