Lovers of stand-up comedy will on Thursday, January 28th witness yet another historic comedy event when Phenyo The Master records his comedic talents on DVD at Pavillion for a night of healing, in non-stop laughter.

One-man standup comedy shows are a worldwide phenomenon, having launched many a career for standup comics internationally. After successful recording of Mawee’s 1 man, Major Moves Comedy is back, this time with Phenyo The Master.

The Mochudi-born comedian’s 1 man show is an event not to miss with an all new critically acclaimed and very hilarious comedy package, full of humor. Joining him to open the stage are rib crackers; Onalenna “Zozo” Mosweu all the way from Dikhukhung, Shima“Jerusalem”’ Nnanaakoko from Molepolole and2015 President’s Day Champion Oefile “Mawe” Mokgware, while Queen of Comedy Rekunde from Maun will be the host.

One of Botswana’s funniest Phenyo “The Master”Phaladi has made a mark in the Botswana comedy industry ever since taking part in President’s Day competitions and was spotted by Major Moves Comedy as having great potential. The Master is definitely one of the most fearlessly funny comics working today, raging on the absurd, ridiculous, political and just day-to-day life activities. He is one of the rising comedians in the country and always leaves a mark wherever he performs.

Phenyo “The Master” had an outstanding 2015 after a great performance in South Africa at the monthly Tips & Friends show where he got a standing ovation. He was also part of the lineup at the Strictly Come Laughing in Gaborone where he also impressed.

He took part at the 2nd Annual Francistown Comedy & Poetry Night and brought clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the show. He has headlined and extensively toured with some of the industry’s top comedians and been regularly featured on most Major Moves Comedy shows. He is promising the audience a lot of new material for the DVD while throwing in a couple of his signature jokes to remind them of how long he has been in the industry.

The organisers have promised that the show would live up to its reputation. Gaolathe Kediemetse of Major Moves Comedy said: “The last time we had comedy show was early October last year, and people have been inquiring about our next show. Many people have argued that, with Phenyo The Master, one cannot maintain a straight face, which symbolises his outstanding excellence when it comes to comedy. With this DVD recording we expect the audience to keep laughing throughout the show.”Tickets for the Phenyo The Master’s 1 man will only be available at the door priced fromP150 double. The show starts at 6:27pm.
